Coach Tekoa has been part of the Chinese Martial Arts Academy community since the age of nine, beginning Kickboxing and Muay Thai training at the Academy at age 13. Having grown up training at the Academy, Tekoa is grateful for the opportunity to continue developing as both an athlete and coach within the same community that has played such an important role in her martial arts journey.
Tekoa has been coaching youth Kickboxing since 2019, working with students of different ages and experience levels. In addition to youth classes, she has coached women-only Kickboxing programs and assisted with strength and conditioning for competitive athletes.
As a coach, Tekoa strives to create a positive, supportive, and challenging environment where every student feels capable of succeeding. She believes martial arts can help students develop confidence, discipline, resilience, respect, and physical literacy. One of the most important lessons she hopes to instill in her students is simple: “I can do hard things.”
Tekoa has also achieved success as a competitive athlete, earning the 2025 WKA North American Muay Thai Championship at 139.9 lb and the 2026 WKA Canadian Muay Thai Championship at 139.9 lb.
Martial arts has been a major part of Tekoa’s life since childhood and has taught her the value of perseverance, confidence, and hard work. Through coaching, she hopes to share those lessons with others and help students discover what they are capable of achieving.
For Tekoa, one of the most rewarding parts of coaching is watching students grow, not only as martial artists, but as confident and resilient individuals. She is passionate about helping students challenge themselves, celebrate their progress, and discover that they are capable of more than they may have thought possible.
